Ricoh Paper Jam & Repair Guides

Ricoh machines rarely fail outright. They wear. A jam that starts as “once a week” and becomes “every third job” is almost always a feed roller or a separation roller that has glazed over — not a fault worth replacing the machine for.

Find your model below. Each guide covers where that machine jams first, which part is responsible, what the replacement costs, and whether it is a job you can do with a screwdriver in twenty minutes.

The model number is on the front panel, or on the silver label inside the front door.

IM Series — mono multifunction

MP C Series — colour multifunction

The workhorse range. On these, the ADF pick-up and the tray 1 feed roller are the two parts that go first.

Pro C Series — production colour

Higher duty cycle, so these wear faster on the same parts. Worth servicing on a schedule rather than waiting for the jam.

SP Series — departmental

What usually goes wrong on a Ricoh

Jams from the ADF, not the tray. If the misfeed happens while copying or scanning but printing is fine, the ADF pick-up roller and separation pad are the culprits. They are consumable parts with a rated life, and Ricoh expects them to be changed.

Multi-feeds from tray 1. Two or three sheets pulled at once means the separation roller has worn smooth. Cheap part, quick job.

Jams at the exit, or smudged output. That is the fuser. On the MP C and Pro C ranges the fuser is a serviceable unit — often the film sleeve or pressure roller alone, rather than the whole assembly.

Not confident diagnosing it from a guide? Remote diagnostics will confirm the fault before you spend anything on parts.
