    Print faint or washed outA worn transfer roller cannot pull enough toner across, so the whole page prints light even with a full cartridge. Toner rubbing or smudging offPoor transfer leaves toner sitting loosely on the surface so it smears when handled, even though the fuser is working.
    Grey background or ghostingA contaminated roller deposits a light haze across the page, or repeats a faint image further down the sheet.     Frequently Asked Questions

    Should I handle the new roller with gloves?

    Yes — handle it by the metal shaft ends only. Skin oils on the roller surface change its charge behaviour and can leave marks on every printed page.

    Will this fit a LaserJet 5000 or 5100?

    No. Those are a different chassis with their own transfer rollers — RG5-3579 for the 5000 and RG9-1542 for the 5100. Contact us and we will supply the right one.
