    Two or more sheets feeding togetherThe separation roller holds the next sheet back. Once it glazes, pages feed in pairs and the job comes out short. Repeated jams from one trayIf Tray 2 jams and Tray 3 is fine — or the other way round — that tray's separation assembly is the place to look.

    Yes. All three numbers resolve to the same assembly. Q7829-67929 is HP's kit reference and RM2-3831 the later revision.

    Do I need one per tray?

    Yes — each cassette has its own separation assembly. If both Tray 2 and Tray 3 are misfeeding you will need two.
