    Separation or pickup? These two rollers sit either side of the same sheet and are easy to confuse. If paper is not feeding at all, you need the pickup roller (RM1-4426). If paper is feeding two or more at a time, this separation roller is the part. Contact us if you are not sure which fault you have.

    Two or more sheets feeding togetherThe separation roller's only job is holding the next sheet back. Once glazed, it stops doing it and pages feed in pairs. Job comes out shortPages going through in pairs means blank or skipped sheets in the output stack — often noticed before the jam is.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Is this the roller that picks the paper up?

    No — that is RM1-4426. This one does the opposite job: it grips the second sheet and stops it following the first. Fitting this when the fault is a non-feed will not help, so check the symptom before ordering.

    Can I clean it instead of replacing it?

    An isopropyl wipe helps if the surface is only dusty. Once the rubber has polished smooth the friction is gone for good and cleaning will not bring it back.
