Is This the Right Fuser Unit?
| You're seeing smudging or toner rub-offToner that wipes off the page or smears when touched is the classic sign of a failing fuser. The fuser is responsible for bonding toner to paper using heat - when it fails, toner never properly fuses. | Your printer is showing a fuser error or jamError codes 50.FF.03 through 50.FF.11 point to a fuser fault - common ones include 50.FF.03 (fuser not heating) and 50.FF.06 (fuser overheating). Jam codes 13.B9, 13.B2 or 13.FF also point to the fuser area. Any of these usually mean the fuser needs replacing. |
| You're seeing ghosting or repeated imagesA faint repeated shadow of previously printed content appearing lower on the page (ghosting) often points to a worn fuser roller or fuser film. A new fuser unit resolves this in most cases. | Proactive maintenance or high page countIf you're approaching 225,000 pages, replacing the fuser now avoids print quality issues and unplanned downtime. Good practice on heavy-use A3 machines. |
| Paper curling or wrinkling after printingIf pages are coming out curled, wrinkled, or wavy, the fuser is applying uneven heat or pressure. This is a mechanical sign of fuser wear rather than a print quality issue. | Not sure? Ask us firstIf you're unsure whether the fuser is the right part to fix your issue, contact us before ordering. Our team can help diagnose the fault - we'd rather help you buy the right part than the wrong one. |

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if the fuser unit is causing my print problem?
The most common signs are toner that smudges or wipes off the page, ghosting (a faint shadow of a previous page appearing lower on the page), paper curling after printing, or an error code. Fuser-specific errors fall in the 50.FF.xx range - for example 50.FF.03 (fuser not heating), 50.FF.06 (fuser overheating) and 50.FF.0E (thermistor reading too low). Jam codes 13.B9, 13.B2 or 13.FF also point to the fuser area. If you're not certain, contact us before ordering - we can help you confirm the fault.
Do I need to reset the fuser counter after fitting this unit?
Yes - the fuser counter should be reset via the printer's service menu after fitting this unit, so the control panel correctly tracks the new fuser's page count and end-of-life warnings. Our GenieCare™ Expert Support team can walk you through the process - this is included with your purchase.
What if fitting the fuser doesn't fix my problem?
If the supplied fuser does not fully resolve your printer issue, we will help diagnose the remaining fault and recommend the next steps. Full warranty and GenieCare™ Support details are in the Warranty & Support section above.
Is this the 110V or 220V fuser?
This listing is for the 220V UK-spec fuser (Z7Y76A / JC82-00483C). There is a separate 110V version (Z7Y75A / JC82-00477C) used in US-market machines - if you're not sure which your printer needs, check the label on your existing fuser or contact us before ordering.
What toner does this printer use?
It depends on your exact model. The mono E82540-E82560 range uses HP W9014MC black toner, rated up to 69,000 pages. The colour E87640-E87660 range uses a four-cartridge set: W9050MC black (up to 54,500 pages), plus W9051MC cyan, W9052MC yellow and W9053MC magenta (up to 52,000 pages each). Ordering from Printer Genie keeps GenieCare™ Expert Support active.
