Does your document feeder do this?

If the printer prints and copies from the glass but the feeder won't grab paper, the ADF pickup roller has almost always gone smooth. A fresh roller and separation pad fixes it.
Why it happens — and the fix
The ADF (the automatic document feeder on top of the scanner) pulls each page through with a small pickup roller, while a separation pad holds the rest of the stack back so only one sheet goes at a time. Both are rubber and both wear with use — the roller goes smooth and loses grip, so the feeder stops picking up paper, drags several sheets through, or jams. Replacing them with the RM2-1179 ADF roller kit restores clean, single-sheet feeding. It is one of the most common faults on this range, and one of the cheapest to fix.

Common questions
How do I know it's the ADF roller and not the scanner?
The giveaway is that the printer still prints, and still scans or copies when you put a page on the glass — it's only the top feeder (ADF) that won't pull paper through, or jams and misfeeds. That points to the ADF pickup roller and separation pad, which this kit replaces. If nothing scans at all, even from the glass, that's a different fault — email us and we'll help.
It scans one side but not the other — is that this?
On the two-sided (duplex) feeder models, the feeder has to pull each sheet back through to do the second side. A worn pickup roller often can't manage that second pass, so you get one side only, or a jam halfway. A fresh roller and separation pad usually sorts it.
How hard is it to fit?
The roller and pad sit just under the ADF cover on the top of the printer. It's a straightforward parts swap rather than a strip-down — if you can change a toner cartridge you can usually manage it. If you'd rather not, email us and we'll talk you through the options.
