Brother DCP-7055 / DCP-7055W Not Feeding Paper to Print or Copy - No Paper Fix

When the DCP-7055 or DCP-7055W will not feed paper — to print or to copy — the feeder cam lever is almost always the cause. The all-in-one reports “No Paper” with a full tray, or grabs a sheet part-way and stops, because the cam lever (LY2579001) that engages the pick-up roller has slipped or snapped. It is a common fault on these busy little machines, and a cheap fix.

What is happening inside

On each page the LY2579001 cam lever drops the pick-up roller onto the top sheet. Push the tray home too hard and it can come off its shaft or break — after that the roller no longer engages, so nothing is drawn in whether you are printing from a PC or making a copy from the glass. A hardened pick-up roller and a glazed separation pad add slipping and double-feeds. Because the DCP-7055 uses one feed path for both printing and copying, the same worn parts stop both jobs.

  • “No Paper” with a full tray when you try to print
  • Will not pull a sheet through to copy from the glass
  • It grabs the top sheet then stops half-way

Why will my DCP-7055 not feed paper to print or copy?

Both jobs use the same tray pick-up. When the feeder cam lever or the pick-up roller is worn, no sheet is drawn in, so printing and copying both fail with a No Paper error or a mid-feed stop.

Do I need a different part for the DCP-7055W?

No. The DCP-7055 and DCP-7055W share the same feed mechanism and the same LY2579001 cam lever and rollers, so one repair kit covers both.

It still will not feed after I changed the rollers - why?

If the cam lever has broken, new rollers still will not engage, because the cam is what pushes the roller onto the paper. Replace the cam lever as well — the repair kit includes it along with the rollers and pad.
