Brother DCP-7065DN Feeding Intermittently / Sometimes “No Paper” – Feed Fix

Brother DCP-7065DN Feeding Fine One Minute, “No Paper” the Next?

When the DCP-7065DN feeds normally sometimes and refuses other times — the odd “No Paper” with a full tray, then it works again — the pickup roller is on its way out and gripping inconsistently. Intermittent feeding is early wear: it only gets more frequent from here.

What’s happening inside

A partly-glazed pickup roller still grips some sheets but slips on others, so the feed becomes hit-and-miss. When it slips, the printer sees no sheet arrive and reports “No Paper” — then the next attempt catches and it prints, so it looks random. A borderline feeder cam lever (part LY2579001) can slip occasionally too. Replacing the feed parts makes it consistent again before it fails completely.

Common signs on the DCP-7065DN

  • Feeds fine, then randomly misses a sheet
  • Occasional “No Paper” with a full tray that clears on a retry
  • Worse when the tray is low, or first thing after standing overnight
  • The misses are getting more frequent over time

The fix

Fresh feed parts make it reliable again. Our Paper Feed Repair Kit fits the DCP-7065DN and includes the pickup roller, paper feed roller, separation pad and feeder cam lever in one box, with a printed step-by-step fitting guide. If it’s only the intermittent “No Paper” fault, the LY2579001 feeder cam lever is available on its own.

Do it yourself. Fit the kit — it makes the feed consistent again and clears the intermittent “No Paper” error. Fitting is rated Moderate: the pad and rollers clip in from the tray opening, and the cam lever is easiest with the side panel off. A printed guide is included.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my DCP-7065DN only sometimes say “No Paper”?

A partly-worn pickup roller grips some sheets and slips on others. When it slips, the printer never sees a sheet arrive and reports “No Paper”; the next try catches and prints, so it seems random. It gets more frequent as the roller wears — replacing it makes the feed consistent again.

Should I fix an intermittent feed now or wait?

Intermittent feeding is early wear and only worsens, so it’s worth doing before it fails mid-job. The Paper Feed Repair Kit (pickup roller, feed roller, separation pad and cam lever LY2579001) sorts it in one go — a Moderate fit with a printed guide.
