Brother HL-2135W Won't Pick Up Paper / "No Paper" With a Full Tray? Common Fix

The HL-2135W is the wireless version of the HL-2130 — same paper-feed mechanism, same weak point. When it says “No Paper” with a full tray, or you hear it turn but no sheet is pulled in, the cause is almost always the feeder cam lever (LY2579001) or hardened pick-up rollers — not the wireless, and not a printer at the end of its life. It is a cheap, common fix.

What is happening inside

A small plastic cam lever (part LY2579001) drops the pick-up roller onto the paper for each sheet. Push the tray home too hard and it can slip off its shaft or snap — after that the roller never engages, nothing is picked up, and the HL-2135W shows “No Paper” even with a full tray. Rollers that have gone hard and smooth add slipping and misfeeds on top. None of this is a wireless or driver problem, so re-adding the printer on Wi-Fi will not fix it.

Why does my HL-2135W say “No Paper” when the tray is full?

The feeder cam lever engages the pick-up roller on every page. When it snaps or slips off, the roller never turns, so no sheet is picked up and the printer reports the only thing it knows: No Paper. Cleaning or changing the rollers alone will not fix it if the cam has gone.

Is it the same fix as the HL-2130?

Yes. The HL-2135W is the wireless HL-2130 and uses the same LY2579001 cam lever and the same feed rollers, so the same repair kit fits both.

Could it be the Wi-Fi or the driver?

No. This is a mechanical fault in the paper-feed parts. If the printer whirrs but does not pull a sheet in, re-adding it on the network will not help — it needs the cam lever and rollers.
